In the morning, a guide and mountain support team will arrive at your hotel for a brief meeting and briefing. Following this, you’ll travel by vehicle to the eastern entrance of Kilimanjaro National Park, Marangu Gate (1,860 m). After completing the necessary formalities, such as obtaining climbing permits and registering with the search and rescue service, the group will begin the trek to Mandara Hut (2,700 m). The route will take you through rainforest areas where tropical rain showers are common, so it’s advisable to bring extra clothing and rain gear. Upon arrival at the camp, our support crew will handle setting up the tents and preparing lunch. Throughout the Marangu route, you’ll stay in designated huts, which offer a comfortable alternative to tent accommodation for those who prefer not to camp
Early in the morning, after breakfast, the group will set off from Mandara Hut for a moderate trek to the next high-altitude camp: Horombo Hut (3,720 m). Upon reaching the camp, you'll be rewarded with views of both Kibo and Mawenzi volcanoes. After lunch, you'll undertake an acclimatization hike toward Kibo Hut, gaining 200 meters in altitude before returning to Horombo Hut. Dinner will be ready upon your return. Note: The acclimatization hike involves a gentle trek with a slight elevation gain to aid the acclimatization process. It is crucial to take these hikes seriously as they enhance your chances of a successful Kilimanjaro summit and help mitigate the risks of altitude sickness.
On this day, right after breakfast, the group will be trekking to the Kibo Hut (4,700 m). The actual trekking is not very difficult, just remember to stick with an appropriate pace to keep up your strength for the trekking to Kilimanjaro's summit. When you reach the camp you will be served lunch, after which we recommend you sleep as much as you can, avoid any strenuous activity, and drink lots of water.
You will depart from Kibo Hut (4,700 m) during the night, beginning your trek to the summit of Kilimanjaro: Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). While the physical demands of the trek are moderate, the altitude poses a significant challenge. Throughout the trek, each pair of climbers will be supported by their own guide, who will monitor your stamina and mental fortitude. After reaching Uhuru Peak, you have the option to visit a nearby glacier before descending back to Kibo Camp. Following a two-hour rest, you will continue your descent to Horombo Hut (3,720 m). Note: Be aware that 90% of accidents occur during the descent, including injuries such as broken arms and legs. Pay close attention to your footing to avoid damaging your toenails.
You will be offered a warm breakfast in the morning, after which we will head for the Kilimanjaro National Park's exit: Marangu Gate (1,860 m). After your descent, the whole group will gather to congratulate you, and then you will have the chance to share your opinions on the trip in the guestbook. Lastly, we will present you with your commemorative certificates (in our office) and provide you with a transfer back to the hotel.
